Under his leadership, the orchestra played symphonically juicy, but always instrumentally differentiated, without succumbing to the danger of a merged sound that these passages entail. In the instrumentally transparent numbers (for example, in the accompaniment of Marienka's song in the introduction of the third act), the music was filigree, and the woodwind instruments in particular sounded beautiful. The conductor's sensitivity towards the singers should also be appreciated...
